Should you decide to blow the dust bunnies off your old magazine collection, you have several options for finally getting some use of it. Cutting out different sized and colored letters and making sayings or quotes is a technique I love. Try snipping letters from various sections: ads, the cover, or headlines for articles. When you put them all together, you will find a great retro aspect to your work.
For incorporating into collages, scrapbooks, or any other visual project using cute pictures and graphic designs you can also look through old magazines. For my scrapbook background pages, I like to look for graphics in the fashion magazines. These universally possess strong themes, with hardly any (or no) writing. If they do have some writing, you can always cover it up with a picture or other design.
A really good idea when scrap-booking is to use Search Engines to find graphics. I searched Google images for different terms like "baby girl", "it’s a girl" etc, when I started my daughter’s scrapbook. By doing a little searching and looking around I was able to find materials to use and saved a lot.
Just search on different search engines images tool for terms related to the project you’re doing. You’ll find plenty of results which you can print out and use in your projects. Since some may have copyright on these graphics for personal purposes suggested by me for you. This should not be an issue at all if they are employed only for your own personal crafts.
If you attend for a couple cents a sheet, you can print them out at your local library or school if you don’t have a printer. You can purchase stickers and various designs from supply stores but there are much cheaper ways.
If you are running a bit low on glue, it’s a little-known fact that you can make some yourself! Once you figure out how much glue you will need, mix together one part flour to one part water. Once you’ve reached the consistency of a paste, you can quit mixing it up.
You should use the glue immediately after you finish making it because if you leave it out, it will become moldy. It is nice for paper projects but you should leave it out so it can dry totally following its use.
You can always add glitter to glue and then apply it like paint to decorate things.
