Bead Art & Jewelry Supplies: Tools, Boards & Trays

There are so many ways you can finally get some use out of that huge magazine stack that’s been collecting under your bed. Cutting out different sized and colored letters and making sayings or quotes is a technique I love. A cool, retro effect can be achieved by combining letters cut from the cover page, various ads, and article titles.

If you have any old magazines laying around you may find ideas or pictures and graphic designs to make a collage or scrapbook. I have developed the habit of decorating my scrapbooks with pages from fashion spreads to serve as the background. These universally possess strong themes, with hardly any (or no) writing. Unwanted writing can easily be covered with a picture or other design.

A really good idea when scrap-booking is to use Search Engines to find graphics. When starting a scrapbook you can search online for ideas and themes such as "It’s a Girl" or "Baby Girl" I found a lot of cute stuff and saved!

Simply run a search through various search engines by using their image tools for any terms that have to do with the project that you are working on. Plenty of results which you can print out and use in your projects will be found by you. I’d suggest you only use these graphics for personal purposes though, since some may have copyrights on them. This should not be an issue at all if they are employed only for your own personal crafts.

For just a few cents per page, you can print items at your local library. Finding graphics by using alternative sources is much less expensive than getting decals and stickers from hobby shops or art supply stores.

Don’t worry if you don’t have any glue on hand you can always make some. Based on the amount of glue required, combine equal parts flour plus water. Mix it up until it turns into a pasty substance.

Don’t make the glue until you are ready to use it because it will get moldy if left to sit. It’s good for paper projects and should be left out to dry completely after it’s used.

You can always add glitter for a nice touch even if you do have glue and use it as paint to decorate stuff.
