Should you decide to blow the dust bunnies off your old magazine collection, you have several options for finally getting some use of it. Try making quotations or maxims out of letters that you’ve cut from magazines in different sizes, colors and fonts. Try snipping letters from various sections: ads, the cover, or headlines for articles. When you put them all together, you will find a great retro aspect to your work.
Cute pictures and designs to use in visual projects may be in old magazines. Another good idea is to use for backgrounds in a scrapbook is pages from a fashion spread magazine. They have just a little bit of writing on them, or none at all, and you can count on them to be very thematic. If they do have some writing, you can always cover it up with a picture or other design.
When creating your scrap books, you can use internet search engines to find appropriate graphics to include. Using Technology can be great. Like the time I was starting my child’s scrapbook, I used Google images to find images that say "It’s a girl!" and "Baby Girl" and so on. I was able to locate so many great things, and I really saved as well.
To get the terms related to the project you are doing, Search for different search engines images tool. You will discover a lot of information that applies to your projects and you can print it out. Be careful! Some images may have copyrights on them, so I suggest only using these graphics for personal purposes. This should not be an issue at all if they are employed only for your own personal crafts.
If you attend for a couple cents a sheet, you can print them out at your local library or school if you don’t have a printer. Finding graphics by using alternative sources is much less expensive than getting decals and stickers from hobby shops or art supply stores.
Got Glue? It’s a little known fact that if you’ve got no glue, you can make some! While working on your project, decide how much glue is necessary and mix flour and water in equal measures. Until it turns into a pasty substance keep mixing it.
This type of homemade glue should be used immediately after mixing, otherwise it will become moldy if left out. It’s good for paper projects and should be left out to dry completely after it’s used.
You can always add glitter to your paint or glue for an added touch.
