You probably have a pile of magazines accumulating somewhere in the house, and now there are lots of ways you can make some use of them. I favor cutting out letters in various colors and sizes and putting them together to spell out aphorisms and quotations. Combine all cut out letters from the cover page, different ads and article titles to get a cool retro feel.

Cute pictures and designs to use in visual projects may be in old magazines. Another good idea is to use for backgrounds in a scrapbook is pages from a fashion spread magazine. They truly follow a theme and don’t have too much writing on them. Cut out a figure from a magazine and use it to hide any writing that shows.

Use Search Engines to find Graphics: This is a really good idea when scrap-booking. For example, when I started my daughter’s scrapbook, I searched Google images for terms like "baby girl", "it’s a girl", and etc. By using alternative sources, I found a good many appropriate things and saved money as well.

If you take the time to do different searches on your search engine you can find some designs or ideas for your project. You’ll find plenty of results which you can print out and use in your projects. Because some graphics may be copyrighted, it’s a good idea to use anything that you find for personal purposes only. Till they are used within your crafts which are personal, that will not be a problem.

The lack of a printer should not stop you as they are readily available for your use at your local library or school for a small fee. Finding graphics by using alternative sources is much less expensive than getting decals and stickers from hobby shops or art supply stores.

If you are running a bit low on glue, it’s a little-known fact that you can make some yourself! Mix an equal amount of flour and water, depending on how much glue you need. A pasty substance is the ultimate goal; mix it up until it gets to this consistency.

This type of glue will go moldy if let out and unused and so you should be used right after you make it. This item is very well suited for paper projects; remember to leave it out to dry completely after use.

You can always add glitter to glue and then apply it like paint to decorate things.
