Should you decide to blow the dust bunnies off your old magazine collection, you have several options for finally getting some use of it. I really enjoy the method of cutting out various colors and sizes of letters to make quotes or sayings. Letters can be cut off the cover page, various advertisements and article titles. Mix them all together to establish a nice retro feel.
You can also look through old magazines for cute pictures and graphic designs to incorporate into collages, scrapbooks, or any other visual project. Another good idea is to use for backgrounds in a scrapbook is pages from a fashion spread magazine. They are always really themed and have little to no writing on them. Cut out a figure from a magazine and use it to hide any writing that shows.
A real good idea is to use search engines to find graphics when scrap-booking. I searched Google images for different terms like "baby girl", "it’s a girl" etc, when I started my daughter’s scrapbook. I found a lot of cute stuff and saved!
Just search on different search engines images tool for terms related to the project you’re doing. You will discover a lot of information that applies to your projects and you can print it out. Since some may have copyright on these graphics for personal purposes suggested by me for you. This should not be an issue at all if they are employed only for your own personal crafts.
If you don’t have a printer, you can print them out at your local library or school if you attend for a couple cents a sheet. It’s still much cheaper than buying stickers and designs from art supply stores.
If you are running a bit low on glue, it’s a little-known fact that you can make some yourself! Regardless of the amount of glue you need, mix equal parts flour and water to get the proper consistency. Combine the ingredients until it is a paste consistency.
This type of glue will go moldy if let out and unused and so you should be used right after you make it. After it is used, it is good to left out to dry completely for paper projects.
For a nice touch, add glitter to your glue and use it as paint for decorating items in your scrapbook.
