Cards: Invitations

Should you decide to blow the dust bunnies off your old magazine collection, you have several options for finally getting some use of it. Cutting out different sized and colored letters and making sayings or quotes is a technique I love. Letters can be cut off the cover page, various advertisements and article titles. Mix them all together to establish a nice retro feel.

Another way to find good graphics to include in your collages or scrap books is to search in old magazines. I have developed the habit of decorating my scrapbooks with pages from fashion spreads to serve as the background. They truly follow a theme and don’t have too much writing on them. The nice thing about it is that if the image has any writing on it you don’t want you can always put a decoration over it or another picture.

A real good idea is to use search engines to find graphics when scrap-booking. When starting a scrapbook you can search online for ideas and themes such as "It’s a Girl" or "Baby Girl" By doing a little searching and looking around I was able to find materials to use and saved a lot.

Just search on different search engines images tool for terms related to the project you’re doing. You’ll find plenty of results which you can print out and use in your projects. Since some may have copyright on these graphics for personal purposes suggested by me for you. This should not be an issue at all if they are employed only for your own personal crafts.

Your local library can be a good, low cost way to print these out if you don’t have a printer of your own at home. You can purchase stickers and various designs from supply stores but there are much cheaper ways.

Most people do not know that you can make your own glue instead of buying it from the store. Mix an equal amount of flour and water, depending on how much glue you need. A pasty substance is the ultimate goal; mix it up until it gets to this consistency.

You should use the glue immediately after you finish making it because if you leave it out, it will become moldy. This item is very well suited for paper projects; remember to leave it out to dry completely after use.

Also, even if you do have glue, you can always add glitter for a nice touch. Use it as paint to decorate stuff.
