I am always making homemade crafts and I know that buying all of your supplies from an art supply store can be expensive. You can still stand out and use your imagination while following these tips to save money.

You probably have a pile of magazines accumulating somewhere in the house, and now there are lots of ways you can make some use of them. I really enjoy the method of cutting out various colors and sizes of letters to make quotes or sayings. Try snipping letters from various sections: ads, the cover, or headlines for articles. When you put them all together, you will find a great retro aspect to your work.

Another way to find good graphics to include in your collages or scrap books is to search in old magazines. I have developed the habit of decorating my scrapbooks with pages from fashion spreads to serve as the background. They have little to no writing on them since they are always really themed. In case they happen to have some writing to show, the same can always be wrapped up in the garb of either a depiction or drawing pattern.

A really good idea when scrap-booking is to use Search Engines to find graphics. When I began to put together a scrapbook for my daughter, I searched the internet for phrases like "baby girl" to find appropriate graphics to include. I found a lot of cute stuff and saved!

Just search on different search engines images tool for terms related to the project you’re doing. You can get plenty of ideas and materials to use if you print them out. Because some graphics may be copyrighted, it’s a good idea to use anything that you find for personal purposes only. As long as they’re used only within your personal crafts, that shouldn’t be a problem.

If you don’t have a printer, you can print them out at your local library or school if you attend for a couple cents a sheet. It’s still much cheaper than buying stickers and designs from art supply stores.

C: Got Glue? It’s a little known fact that if you’ve got no glue, you can make some! Mix an equal amount of flour and water, depending on how much glue you need. Mix it up until it turns into a pasty substance.

You should use the glue immediately after you finish making it because if you leave it out, it will become moldy. This item is very well suited for paper projects; remember to leave it out to dry completely after use.

You can always add glitter to your paint or glue for an added touch.

• Many cool crafts call for some type of modeling clay; don’t be afraid to make your own at home! You can make things in your kitchen with what you already have on hand instead of buying it at the grocery store. 1 cup flour, a tablespoon oil, 2 tablespoons cream of tarter, 1/2 cup salt and 1 cup water are used. After mixing every ingredient in a large pan, cook lightly for approximately 3 minutes. It should be stored after cooling in a container that is airtight, kept in the fridge, until it is needed for use. The clay will dry up. So make sure the container is air tight.

5. If you take a few minutes to observe what it around you, you may find some supplies you can use. With scissors and markers, a pizza box can be cut up to make a big wall collage, dry pasta can be painted and glued on as a decoration paper plates can be masks.

You will have unlimited options for creative craft use at home by looking for unique items in closets or drawers. There is more than one use for something you may have saved and have never used.
