Ceramics & Pottery: Polymer Clay

If you have a large collection of periodicals that have been piling up around your house, there are a variety of different ways to put them to good use. Cutting out letters of varying sizes and colors, and then using them to make phrases or quotes, is something I enjoy doing. To get a cool retro look just cut out letters from different ads, articles and the cover and mix them together.

If you have any old magazines laying around you may find ideas or pictures and graphic designs to make a collage or scrapbook. I also like to use the pages from fashion spreads as background pages for my scrapbooks. They truly follow a theme and don’t have too much writing on them. Cut out a figure from a magazine and use it to hide any writing that shows.

Use Search Engines to find Graphics: This is a really good idea when scrap-booking. Using Technology can be great. Like the time I was starting my child’s scrapbook, I used Google images to find images that say "It’s a girl!" and "Baby Girl" and so on. By using alternative sources, I found a good many appropriate things and saved money as well.

If you take the time to do different searches on your search engine you can find some designs or ideas for your project. You will be able to utilize much of the information in your plans, there will be a lot of data available just print it out and go from there. I’d suggest you only use these graphics for personal purposes though, since some may have copyrights on them. As long as you use them for your individual crafts, this shouldn’t be an issue.

For just a few cents per page, you can print items at your local library. Buying stickers and designs from art supply stores is costlier.

If you are running a bit low on glue, it’s a little-known fact that you can make some yourself! Mix an equal amount of flour and water, depending on how much glue you need. A pasty substance is the ultimate goal; mix it up until it gets to this consistency.

Don’t make the glue until you are ready to use it because it will get moldy if left to sit. It is nice for paper projects but you should leave it out so it can dry totally following its use.

Also, even if you do have glue, you can always add glitter for a nice touch. Use it as paint to decorate stuff.
