You probably have a pile of magazines accumulating somewhere in the house, and now there are lots of ways you can make some use of them. Cutting out letters of varying sizes and colors, and then using them to make phrases or quotes, is something I enjoy doing. Letters can be cut off the cover page, various advertisements and article titles. Mix them all together to establish a nice retro feel.
Another way to find good graphics to include in your collages or scrap books is to search in old magazines. I have developed the habit of decorating my scrapbooks with pages from fashion spreads to serve as the background. These universally possess strong themes, with hardly any (or no) writing. In case they happen to have some writing to show, the same can always be wrapped up in the garb of either a depiction or drawing pattern.
Use Search Engines to find Graphics: This is a really good idea when scrap-booking. When I began to put together a scrapbook for my daughter, I searched the internet for phrases like "baby girl" to find appropriate graphics to include. By using alternative sources, I found a good many appropriate things and saved money as well.
Simply run a search through various search engines by using their image tools for any terms that have to do with the project that you are working on. You’ll find plenty of results which you can print out and use in your projects. Since some may have copyright on these graphics for personal purposes suggested by me for you. As long as you use them for your individual crafts, this shouldn’t be an issue.
If you attend for a couple cents a sheet, you can print them out at your local library or school if you don’t have a printer. Finding graphics by using alternative sources is much less expensive than getting decals and stickers from hobby shops or art supply stores.
Don’t worry if you don’t have any glue on hand you can always make some. Mix an equal amount of flour and water, depending on how much glue you need. A pasty substance is the ultimate goal; mix it up until it gets to this consistency.
This type of glue should be used right after you make it, as it will go moldy if left out and unused. After it is used, it is good to left out to dry completely for paper projects.
For a nice touch, add glitter to your glue and use it as paint for decorating items in your scrapbook.
