There are a lot of ways you can eventually use that big pile of magazines that has been gathering beneath your bed. A technique I love is to cut out different sized and colored letters and make sayings or quotes. To get a cool retro feel, you can cut out letters from the cover page, different ads, and article titles and combine them all .
You can also look through old magazines for cute pictures and graphic designs to incorporate into collages, scrapbooks, or any other visual project. I have developed the habit of decorating my scrapbooks with pages from fashion spreads to serve as the background. They have just a little bit of writing on them, or none at all, and you can count on them to be very thematic. Cut out a figure from a magazine and use it to hide any writing that shows.
Use Search Engines to find Graphics: This is a really good idea when scrap-booking. When starting a scrapbook you can search online for ideas and themes such as "It’s a Girl" or "Baby Girl" I found a lot of cute stuff and saved!
Using a search engine’s images page can help you find terms that you need for a project that you are working on. You will discover a lot of information that applies to your projects and you can print it out. Since some may have copyright on these graphics for personal purposes suggested by me for you. Till they are used within your crafts which are personal, that will not be a problem.
If you don’t have a printer, you can print them out at your local library or school if you attend for a couple cents a sheet. It’s still much cheaper than buying stickers and designs from art supply stores.
If you are running a bit low on glue, it’s a little-known fact that you can make some yourself! Once you figure out how much glue you will need, mix together one part flour to one part water. Mix it up until it turns into a pasty substance.
You should use the glue immediately after you finish making it because if you leave it out, it will become moldy. This must be left to dry totally after it is used; it is very good to use for any kind of paper project.
For a nice touch, add glitter to your glue and use it as paint for decorating items in your scrapbook.
