Now that big stash of periodicals that has been accumulating under your bed-frame can be put to quite a number of uses. Cutting out letters of varying sizes and colors, and then using them to make phrases or quotes, is something I enjoy doing. When cutting out letters, consider taking them from article headers, advertisement copy, and even the cover page and combining them for a hip, yet nostalgic, effect.
If you have any old magazines laying around you may find ideas or pictures and graphic designs to make a collage or scrapbook. I have developed the habit of decorating my scrapbooks with pages from fashion spreads to serve as the background. They have little to no writing on them since they are always really themed. Unwanted writing can easily be covered with a picture or other design.
Use Search Engines to find Graphics: This is a really good idea when scrap-booking. For example, when I started my daughter’s scrapbook, I searched Google images for terms like "baby girl", "it’s a girl", and etc. Not only did I find a lot of cute stuff, I also saved a ton of money!
Just search on different search engines images tool for terms related to the project you’re doing. Plenty of results which you can print out and use in your projects will be found by you. Be careful! Some images may have copyrights on them, so I suggest only using these graphics for personal purposes. Till they are used within your crafts which are personal, that will not be a problem.
The lack of a printer should not stop you as they are readily available for your use at your local library or school for a small fee. It’s still much cheaper than buying stickers and designs from art supply stores.
Got Glue? It’s a little known fact that if you’ve got no glue, you can make some! Regardless of the amount of glue you need, mix equal parts flour and water to get the proper consistency. Combine the ingredients until it is a paste consistency.
Don’t make the glue until you are ready to use it because it will get moldy if left to sit. It is nice for paper projects but you should leave it out so it can dry totally following its use.
You can always add glitter for a nice touch even if you do have glue and use it as paint to decorate stuff.
