Holiday: Christmas

There are a lot of ways you can eventually use that big pile of magazines that has been gathering beneath your bed. A technique I love is to cut out different sized and colored letters and make sayings or quotes. Try snipping letters from various sections: ads, the cover, or headlines for articles. When you put them all together, you will find a great retro aspect to your work.

If you have any old magazines laying around you may find ideas or pictures and graphic designs to make a collage or scrapbook. Another good idea is to use for backgrounds in a scrapbook is pages from a fashion spread magazine. These universally possess strong themes, with hardly any (or no) writing. In case they happen to have some writing to show, the same can always be wrapped up in the garb of either a depiction or drawing pattern.

When creating your scrap books, you can use internet search engines to find appropriate graphics to include. When starting a scrapbook you can search online for ideas and themes such as "It’s a Girl" or "Baby Girl" Not only did I find a lot of cute stuff, I also saved a ton of money!

Just search on different search engines images tool for terms related to the project you’re doing. You’ll find plenty of results which you can print out and use in your projects. I’d suggest you only use these graphics for personal purposes though, since some may have copyrights on them. As long as they’re used only within your personal crafts, that shouldn’t be a problem.

If you attend for a couple cents a sheet, you can print them out at your local library or school if you don’t have a printer. Finding graphics by using alternative sources is much less expensive than getting decals and stickers from hobby shops or art supply stores.

Got Glue? It’s a little known fact that if you’ve got no glue, you can make some! Once you figure out how much glue you will need, mix together one part flour to one part water. Combine the ingredients until it is a paste consistency.

This type of homemade glue should be used immediately after mixing, otherwise it will become moldy if left out. It is nice for paper projects but you should leave it out so it can dry totally following its use.

Also, even if you do have glue, you can always add glitter for a nice touch. Use it as paint to decorate stuff.
