That huge magazine stack that’s been collecting under your bed can be used in many ways. Try creating your favorite quotations from assorted sizes and colors of letters you have cut out: one of my favorite tricks! When cutting out letters, consider taking them from article headers, advertisement copy, and even the cover page and combining them for a hip, yet nostalgic, effect.
Cute pictures and designs to use in visual projects may be in old magazines. I have developed the habit of decorating my scrapbooks with pages from fashion spreads to serve as the background. They are always really themed and have little to no writing on them. Cut out a figure from a magazine and use it to hide any writing that shows.
When creating your scrap books, you can use internet search engines to find appropriate graphics to include. For example, when I started my daughter’s scrapbook, I searched Google images for terms like "baby girl", "it’s a girl", and etc. By using alternative sources, I found a good many appropriate things and saved money as well.
Simply run a search through various search engines by using their image tools for any terms that have to do with the project that you are working on. Plenty of results which you can print out and use in your projects will be found by you. Because some graphics may be copyrighted, it’s a good idea to use anything that you find for personal purposes only. If it is for your own personal use it should not be an issue.
Your local library can be a good, low cost way to print these out if you don’t have a printer of your own at home. You’ll save tons of money over buying designs and stickers from an art supply store.
Got Glue? It’s a little known fact that if you’ve got no glue, you can make some! Based on the amount of glue required, combine equal parts flour plus water. Until it turns into a pasty substance keep mixing it.
This type of homemade glue should be used immediately after mixing, otherwise it will become moldy if left out. This must be left to dry totally after it is used; it is very good to use for any kind of paper project.
You can always add glitter to your paint or glue for an added touch.
