You probably have a pile of magazines accumulating somewhere in the house, and now there are lots of ways you can make some use of them. I like to make my own sayings and quotes by snipping various sized letters of the alphabet in different shades and putting them together. Try snipping letters from various sections: ads, the cover, or headlines for articles. When you put them all together, you will find a great retro aspect to your work.
You can also look through old magazines for cute pictures and graphic designs to incorporate into collages, scrapbooks, or any other visual project. For my scrapbook background pages, I like to look for graphics in the fashion magazines. They have just a little bit of writing on them, or none at all, and you can count on them to be very thematic. The nice thing about it is that if the image has any writing on it you don’t want you can always put a decoration over it or another picture.
A really good idea when scrap-booking is to use Search Engines to find graphics. Using Technology can be great. Like the time I was starting my child’s scrapbook, I used Google images to find images that say "It’s a girl!" and "Baby Girl" and so on. I found a lot of cute stuff and saved!
If you take the time to do different searches on your search engine you can find some designs or ideas for your project. You’ll find plenty of results which you can print out and use in your projects. Be careful! Some images may have copyrights on them, so I suggest only using these graphics for personal purposes. If it is for your own personal use it should not be an issue.
If you attend for a couple cents a sheet, you can print them out at your local library or school if you don’t have a printer. Buying stickers and designs from art supply stores is costlier.
Have you got the glue? It is a hardly known fact that if you don’t have a glue, you might make some! Based on the amount of glue required, combine equal parts flour plus water. Combine the ingredients until it is a paste consistency.
You should use the glue immediately after you finish making it because if you leave it out, it will become moldy. This must be left to dry totally after it is used; it is very good to use for any kind of paper project.
You can always add glitter to glue and then apply it like paint to decorate things.
