You probably have a pile of magazines accumulating somewhere in the house, and now there are lots of ways you can make some use of them. One of my favorite pastimes is making sayings or quotations by cutting out letters of many different sizes and hues. You can cut out letters from the cover page, different ads, and article titles.
Another way to find good graphics to include in your collages or scrap books is to search in old magazines. I also like to use the pages from fashion spreads as background pages for my scrapbooks. They have just a little bit of writing on them, or none at all, and you can count on them to be very thematic. In case they happen to have some writing to show, the same can always be wrapped up in the garb of either a depiction or drawing pattern.
A good thing to do is to use an internet search to find ideas for your scrapbook. I searched Google images for different terms like "baby girl", "it’s a girl" etc, when I started my daughter’s scrapbook. I was able to locate so many great things, and I really saved as well.
Just search on different search engines images tool for terms related to the project you’re doing. Plenty of results which you can print out and use in your projects will be found by you. I’d suggest you only use these graphics for personal purposes though, since some may have copyrights on them. This should not be an issue at all if they are employed only for your own personal crafts.
For just a few cents per page, you can print items at your local library. You’ll save tons of money over buying designs and stickers from an art supply store.
Most people do not know that you can make your own glue instead of buying it from the store. Regardless of the amount of glue you need, mix equal parts flour and water to get the proper consistency. Combine the ingredients until it is a paste consistency.
This type of glue should be used right after you make it, as it will go moldy if left out and unused. It is nice for paper projects but you should leave it out so it can dry totally following its use.
Also, even if you do have glue, you can always add glitter for a nice touch. Use it as paint to decorate stuff.
